Reception Tunes Edumacation

I am going to be completely selfish and ask a huge favor from all of you.

Would you mind sharing any links you might have to posts you have written, or posts you have read, where people have shared their reception music choices? I need to compile my list real soon, and I don't have time to think about it, I need to just do it! I know I should just suck it up and use the jazz channel at the hotel, but I just want that extra ounce of personalization.

So send those posts my way my friends!

I think, if you do a good job, I'll do a follow up post and show what we have compiled together.

Also, can you tell I am stressed? I HATE all text blog posts. And yet I am doing it. No time to be a good blogger. Oh, just wait until the wedding is over!

I don't know if it will help but I did a compile of the "important" reception dances in youtube form.

It's kinda fun to watch all the videos of our song choices.

Here is my post on music...

http://withthisring-ryanandbecky.blogspot.com/2008/09/60-so-much-to-blog-so-little-time.html

I also decided to compile music of our liking for dinner and cocktail hour about a week before our wedding. Here was the mistake...I was up until 1:30am the night before the wedding finishing up the playlist, and had to get up at 5:30 to shower and be at the salon on time. I was a very. tired. bride.

What I learned is this...the music I ripped off of CDs (b/c we're old skool, and that's where most of our music is) ripped at different volume levels. When the room was filled with 200 people talking, some of the songs were noticeable, and others you couldn't hear at all. Honestly, I think myself and and a handful of others who were listening for "their" song, were the only ones who noticed the music. Would I do it again? Probably...because that's how I roll.

Hope this helps!

Duncan Sheik's "For You" and "Songbird" Those are the best songs. Good luck! We just played classical music in the background. Nothing says romance like Bach and Vivaldi. :)

We're planning on using a lot of Michael Buble and Harry Connick Jr.
