Sweet Carolin(a)

Justine the original Unbride just posted a picture of herself wearing a Caroline Herrera gown that immediately sent me into a googling frenzy. It is the dress for me. Classic and beautiful, the kind of dress that would never go out of style.I would put it on and never take it off again. Throw some pleats on the bottom hem and I am ready!

Sadly, this little gem is twice what I am willing to spend (I guess I should say, twice the amount of money I can spend, I would spend much more if I could). I have been contacting local seamstresses to get quotes on a custom dress, I think I will send this one picture along and see what it would cost. Any thoughts? Not enough drama?

I am completely in love with that dress - there's enough drama and style that you'll drop jaws at the ceremony, honey! It's unexpected. It's unique. And honey, it's HOT.

It is a FAB dress! I would totally wear it except the gingham thing just doesn't go with the vibe of my wedding. :(

Definitely a lot of drama! And sleeves!

You should check out one of the original WeddingBees...Mrs. Beetle. She wore that dress for her wedding.http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/02/26/im-a-mrs-my-dee-lightful-wedding-recap-part-1/
It's good to see the dress "in action"

Since the style is a few years old I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't find it being resold somewhere.

also i'm not sure if you've considered the option of getting a bridesmaid dress in a similar style but ordering it in a white fabric. It'd be much cheaper and you might be able to embellish them somehow. Siri and Watters make some very classic looks similar to the carolina herrera that also have sleeves

http://www.siriinc.com/collection.html - be sure to look in all sections b/c they have different dresses in each with sleeves

amanda-I love the word "unexpected". I think I would like to make it the theme of my wedding.

justine-I am looking into using a restored barn for my ceremony/dinner location. I think that dress would be fabulous there.

emily-Yes, sleeves are a must. No dress without sleeves for me. Drama and sleeves don't always go together!

miss capitol hill-You have such a fantastic memory, thanks for pointing out that dress to me, I had read through Mrs. Beetle's posts but I would never have remember that she wore that exact dress. Thanks so much for the amazing links as well. I think I will email the companies and see if they would consider adding some length on to some of their bridesmaid dresses. I'm also flattered by your visit, I love the DC Nearlyweds blog! Everyone should take a look www.dcnearlyweds.com.

That is a stunning dress, I love dresses with sleeves but an outdoor August wedding didn't really suit them!

Pronovias have some stunning sleeved dresses at the moment, that's where I got mine.

peonies-thanks for the sweet tip! I think I will be spending a few hours on the Pronovias website now. I am all about finding a dream dress and buying it used.

Have you seen Vineyard Collections' "version" of this dress? They have one that is quite similar.

abbie-Thanks for the great tip, I hadn't really explored the Vineyard Collection much yet, but once I took a look I found myself bookmarking all kinds of dresses. If only I could find one to try on somewhere.
