I Can't Get No Satisfaction

I thought I was content with my bakery bought cakes. Bakery bought cakes that I would just pick up and have no say in terms of how they are decorated. Then I saw this post while browsing through the One Love Photo archives (you really should spend an afternoon going through her posts, and maybe an evening and a night as well, her writing is just as beautiful as her photography).

This, my friends, is culinary perfection.

When you see my wedding recap, you will think about this post, and you will say "Wow, that is exactly what That Bride should have had at her wedding."

The bakery is located in Seattle (yay!) but the reviews on Yelp are saying that the shop has changed hands and the food isn't quite as delicious as it once was. Why why why is the world out to ruin everything?

Heather, seriously, beautiful pictures.

What do I do my friends, what do I DO?

I am confused by this post. Why don't you just show it to your bakery? These are simple cakes, so they could probably recreate each one for like $25, right? You could probably find retro cake platters on ebay, etsy, and antiques around home for $150-200.

A random thought but it would be kinda cool if all the major bakers in your families made a cake. Like each one was assigned a certain style so then they could all have a little something to contribute.

Bonnie at New Renaissance cakes is AMAZING! She's won all sorts of awards in the past few years, and all her cakes are fresh, not frozen. She'd be able to help you...i think she's in ballard...

My first thought was to have family bake cakes and find a baker willing to frost them with this beautiful, yummy, home made look that seems so simple, but is actually pretty hard. Or like Tina said just print these pics and show it to a baker. I know you can acheive this look!

You know, now that I look at them again...what id you did the opposite? Buy plain cakes and frost them yourself (aka friend or family)..Get a big icing spatula and have at it!!

Just do it! This bakery is in Tacoma but I am sure there are others in the Seattle area. The cakes were about $40.00 each. I brought the one cake stand for their favorite cake and the vintage topper. The rest were just on white platters. It was pretty easy, but turned out so CUTE!

I love that idea of having family do your cakes - I just saw yesterday that the new trend is to have family donate their services...hint hint.

Enjoy the 20 variations of chocolate...actually I think I want a cupcake now.

Tina-I *think* the cake stand idea I have dreamt up will turn out cute. We shall see! I am just spending my money on so many other "treats" I coudln't afford to get some cake stands, as much as I wanted them.

onelove-I did a little research and that shop has been sold! I'm hoping the one I found and tasted the cake at will be willing to work with me.
